Optimization

Lesson 26 of 30 · 9 min

Launch a disciplined learning loop

Turn performance data into better decisions.

Decide before you optimize

Write the hypothesis, primary metric, minimum evidence, and action for each test before launch. This prevents normal volatility from becoming a reason to make random daily changes.

Change one meaningful thing

Prioritize changes by likely impact: broken tracking, audience-message fit, creative, offer, landing experience, then bid and placement refinements. Record what changed so the team can reuse the learning.

Give the algorithm time to learn

Optimizing platforms need a run of conversions before their delivery stabilises. Editing budgets and targeting daily resets that learning, so a campaign that is constantly adjusted never gets to show what it could do.

Keep a change log

Write down what changed, when, and why. Without it, nobody can tell whether last week's improvement came from the new creative, the budget shift, or the season — and the same argument gets relitigated every month.

Takeaway

A good optimization creates both a better result and a reusable lesson.
