Social: discovery plus a creative laboratory

The fastest place to learn what your message should be.

Two jobs in one buy

Social delivers reach against interest and behaviour signals, and it returns creative feedback within days. That second job is often worth more than the first: what you learn about message and offer transfers to every other channel in the plan.

The platforms are not interchangeable

US CPMs differ sharply by audience: Meta near $12, TikTok around $8, Snap about $7, X around $5.50, and LinkedIn about $30. LinkedIn's premium is professional targeting; if the job does not need job titles, you are paying roughly two and a half times Meta's rate for nothing.

Feed the algorithm a real signal

Modern social buying optimizes toward whatever conversion you report. Report a shallow event and it will find people who do that shallow thing. Optimize toward the deepest event that still has enough weekly volume to learn from.

Creative is the targeting

With broad audiences and strong optimization, the ad itself does much of the qualification: the people it speaks to are the people who engage, and the system finds more of them. That is why creative variety usually outperforms audience micro-segmentation.

Plan for fatigue

Social creative decays faster than any other channel because frequency accumulates quickly against a defined audience. Build a refresh cadence into the plan from the start rather than reacting once performance has already sagged.

Takeaway

Buy social for reach and for the creative learning it returns — and let the ad do the qualifying.
